My husband and I decided it was in our childs best intrest to promote her to the next grade level. As a family we would help her succeed in her weaknesses. She is now in the 5th grade receiving A's and B's in her classes. Retaining a student is not always in the child's best intrest. I am working on a research paper for my Master's degree on the Pros and Cons of Retaining Elementary Students. The data states you may see an improvement in the first few years after the student was retained, then a decrease in learning activity. With that stated, every situation is individualy based.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-669396919845887110.post-90006593320966411612008-04-24T16:59:00.000-07:002008-04-24T16:59:00.000-07:00Dee, you're always doing the right thing if you're...Dee, you're always doing the right thing if you're doing it out of love. I would say it is better to repeat an earlier grade than a later one.
Here is another site to look at to see what other parents have to say/experienced:

http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=131904hopenghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10033537628534857914noreply@blogger.com
